I recently had my DIC replaced. I got a brand new one from Saab. I had this done roughly a week and a half ago. Since then I had the check engine light come on. I took it to the local independent Saab mechanic and he hooked it up to the computer. It wasn't showing any codes, he thought maybe it stored the code from when the DIC wasn't working correctly.
He reset the light and it hasn't come on since then. However, when I start it the "Check Ok" message doesn't always come on. Sometimes in the mornings it has to crank over a few times till it starts and tonight I was waiting at a stoplight and the rpms starting jumping and shuttering a little bit. It wasn't as severe as it was when the DIC was visibly bad, but it was enough to notice and concern me. Could it be that the new DIC is going bad already, or something more serious. I do have resistor plugs in my car to, so that's not the issue. It's got new plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and vacuum lines. I've had this car two months and had nothing but headaches. It's a 1999 9-3SE.
