Clutch Cable, Install tips.

Just replaced my cable.
The only tricky part is that darn return spring, as noted by others. I came up with a good trick. To push the spring up, I cut a small v groove in the end of an old toothbrush. That gave me a way to push the spring up and not have it bouncing back down. I made up another tool by bending the end of a coat hanger into a hook to grab it from the top/front. Once you grab it at the top you can drop the v groove tool and hold it in rotation.
I had an issue trying to pull it into position back behind the cable end. You can't get it past the lever. After futzing with it for a while, I realized that by depressing the pedal yougot enough clearance to pull it back and over. That's somewhat counterintuitive since usually when installing a spring like this you want to try to pull it the minimmum amount and hook it. But, in this case, it's the key to the whole operation.
It's worth noting that these cables would probably last forever if Saab had just spec'ed a metal end fitting instead of a piece of plastic that's way too weak. The clutch cable would actually be a great and reliable setup if the used a metal end stop.
