I am using the PAC SWI-X in my 2002 9-3 with a Nakamichi CD-500 deck. I mounted the transmitter up by the cabin lights/rear view mirror area pointing almost straight down. The only time this mounting spot is problematic is if I have a coffee in the coffee cup holder and even then it usually works.
There is a definite lag of about half a second but you get used to it. Once depressed though the buttons are about as responsive as those on the deck; i.e. if I want to move from volume 20 to volume 35 when i press the volume up button on the wheel there is the slight delay but I keep it depressed and the volume goes up quickly as it would if I was pressing the volume button on the Nak deck.
Definitely a worthwhile modification. Allows you to map any key from the remote to the wheel too, so i mapped the MUTE button on the remote to the NXT button on the wheel. Now that I have a Nakamichi MF-51 changer mounted up in the glove box, I will remap that back to changing from one disk to the next in the changer, etc.
