I recommend
- dental tape (thinker than floss), to "saw" behind the rear emblem
- adhesive remover, I used Goo Gone, a citrus based cleaner, to clean up the sticky residue (I also just scraped it off with my fingernail.)
- a prying tool. Some use a screwdriver but I found that impossible to gain any leverage and was too worried of slipping and scratching the car. I found in my old toolbox a pry tool that looks like a screwdriver but the end is forked and angled so that it is super easy to slide it under the emblem and pry up.
I found the pry tool was the key to changing both my emblems! The rear one is a bit trickier only b/c there is a lot of adhesive backing on the emblem.
I also bought the protective plastic emblem covers from State of Nine. There turned out to be a clear adhesive from 3M, if anyone knows where we might find another source. The clear emblems went on and in a day or two were almost completely invisible.
