1998 900s, 222,000 mi. ran perfectly until I had new tires put on. Shop offered to replace the ball joints (I had the parts) at a reasonable price so I let them have at it. Left the shop, drove across the street and filled up with gas. A few miles later, CEL. Not too many miles further and started experiencing very rough idle and stall. Cleaned IAC, MAF and TB. Same problem. Pulled plugs and they were perfect except gap was approx. .044". Chg'd plugs and gapped to .024" per emissions label. Went from Denso to Bosch copper as nobody had the NGK's. Later read the box and it said to gap at 1.1 mm (sold the wrong plugs?). Pulled P1115 and P1117 (low current O2 sensors). Opened fuse box and fuse for O2 sensors fell out-obviously not making contact. Went for a short drive and car ran great but w/slightly rough idle. Drove to work next day and became v. rough and stall was back. CEL on again. Feeling unsafe, gave to non-SAAB mechanic and he pulled a P1140 (MAF or TP Sensor malfunction). He further tightened up the vacuum lines but it still idles rough, stalls at idle and runs rich. Worse once warmed up. No CEL (yet). Would driving a few days w/O2 sensor fuse out mess up the MAF or TP? Any way I can test the above rather than just start changing parts? Take it to a SAAB indie? Don't want to dump a lot of $ considering the miles. Sorry for the long post, but this car has been absolutely bulletproof from new (more than I can say about my Viggen).
TIA, Charlie
