900S Check Engine Light

I have a 94 Saab 900S auto w/ 199k on it. I recently drove it from Kansas City MO to NC and back. While I was driving I noticed that on many occasions it appeared that the accelerator would stick and when I would press the pedal all the way to the floor to speed up to pass other people, the car would take much long to downshift into a passing gear. Also noticed that when in neutral or park, idle would jump from 1000 rpms to 2000 rpms. However during my journey I still got 33mpg. I recently replaced valve cover gasket, plugs, distributor, and wires. Upon my return to Kansas City, I got a check engine light that has stayed on since. At times the Saab can be hard to start (ie doesn't fire up immediately when hot unlike a cold start) Mechanic wants 70.00 just to hook it up to his computer to tell me what is wrong. Recently replaced O2 sensor, CPS, oil change. I am thinking that my IAC is going bad/ is bad. I am going to swap out my MAF with another one just to rule it out. I'd rather not spend 70.00 on a diagnosis; rather on parts to fix issue.
