I'm having the same problem. Alternator bench tests good at the local shop, but won't charge installed with the engine running. The battery (and brake?) lights are dim with the engine running. The excitor circuit measures 6.1v at the alternator while idling and ~11.4 with it revved up. Can someone tell me what the excitor circuit should measure?
I've had some other cold solder joint problems with this instrument cluster that has affected other guages/indicators. Fixed one hoping it would fix my alternator issue too, but it didn't.
