I've got a '95 convertible with 151,000 that I bought for $500 that was in a low speed accident. Plus, I've have/had two '96 90S's, I also parted out a previous '95 convert last fall so I've some experience. I LOVE the turbo but it is a luxury item due to it's canvas top. Granted a fair amount of people here in Vermont drive them in the winter for some reason.

I think that if you search the boards you will find the usual stuff that goes wrong with each model and or year. If you can handle those costs than I say it might be a go. The tops are notorious money pits and plenty used cars can be found with the motors not working for cheap. The tops are not conducive to manual unfolding. For the price of new motors and installation you can buy another one.

I think that the price is a tad high but if it was dealer maintained and all records, and I mean all records, are either with the car or on record at the dealer, and it has been well taken care of then buy it. Though I would certainly think long and hard about it.

If you or your friend loves Saabs then go for it, I just hope your friend has experience with Saabs.
