...where the roads are horrible. The 17's are only summer tires. Even with the crazy road construction going on here, I haven't had any issues. Sure, you can't nail a pothole and expect good results. The 16's are winter wheels/tires.
My wife's car runs the 15/16 winter/summer setup.
I think there are advantages to the 17" on the street. They are a bit wider, and I can run a "performance" tire since I swap for winter. Driving an SE, I always had to feather the clutch to avoid bad wheel spin. With the 17's, I don't have to think about it as much. So, with the right tire, I feel they have a wet weather benefit. Plus, on the SE, they look great! I have the 17" Klingon rims from a 9-5.
