There's a LOT of discussion on this issue on this board; look through the first few pages, and you'll find 2-3 separate discussions.
Front end shaking can be caused by poor alignment, poor balance, worn components, or a combination of issues. Outer tie rod ends will cause shakes, but mostly will only be felt when braking at high speeds or taking curves at high speeds. Inner tie rod bushings can feel pretty similar, but can cause wandering and very loose steering as well depending on how badly they're worn. Balance issues seem to be the consensus, and most members suggest having the wheels balanced on a specific "Hunter" machine. I believe, while this is an issue, and an accurate balance will help drastically, this is only a symptom and only addressing this symptom will result in wasted money and rapid re-occurrence of the issue. Worn control arm bushings can cause problems, but they aren't as likely and should be noticed by any competent alignment technician. There is a carrier bearing on the passenger side drive-axle that will cause front end shaking when it wears out, I believe most people who suffer this shake need a new bearing, but can eliminate the shaking for periods of time by addressing symptoms. I've replaced nearly all my front end components, and only eliminated the shake for a few hundred miles at a time.
