For some reason, these have worn out on my '01 9-3SE w/ 78K miles, while they're perfectly ok on my wife's '99 9-3 w/ 98K miles. There are rubber bushings which isolate the inner tie rod to the bolt which connects to the steering rack. When these wear out, they just sorta rattle around when going straight and there is no load on the tie rods.
