It is so many thing that could create similar sudden stop of operation so it is not easy to give a quick answer without reading the fault codes, micro switches and potentiometers with the Tech 2 while operating the top.
Sometimes the wires to potentiometers break or it could be the potentiometer itself inside that has a glitch inside.
You can try to look over all switches and potentiometers and if you find anything broken, that's probably the problem.
Also, when cars has started to get repaired "the other way" (hose clamp) instead of the right way, it can be even more trouble finding the culprit because I might have to fix the "repairs" first before starting to search for the real problem.
