One sensor works the temp. gauge cluster and the other tells the injectors to pulse the opening time longer for cold start conditions. Like the choke on a carburated engine. How old are the spark plugs? Old one with large gaps and colder weather often have a weaker spark. Remove the distributor cap and inspect for burnt cap post and rotor. Also, oil can get into these older distributors, past the seals and cause shorting. Tune-Up Time??? The engine temp. sensor for the injectors can be checked with an Ohm meter. This sensor increases the ohm value as the engine warms. A faulty one tends to flood the engine. Have your wife turn the ignition on and wait several seconds before cranking the starter. This allows for the fuel rail pressure to come up to pressure. And tell her not to touch the gasoline pedal/throttle. On fuel injection car, just turn the key. Stepping on the accelerator pedal will work the throttle posistion switch. Interferes with the mourning start-up imformation to the computer.
