Car value, I would guess little impact. Spare parts, that could be an issue. GM sold the tooling rights to the 9-3 and 9-5 to a Chinese company. Worse, they sold Saab technology along with it.
I really don't care any more about Saab, my interest switched to Audi years ago. A used S4 will be my next purchase, sometime this coming summer (B5 or B6, how will I ever decide??) I'll keep my Viggen, for the history of the engine and the unique styling. And it's easy enough to work on, which means I can tinker with it in my garage.
As for how this relates to the U.S., it's just really sad. We are spending tons of money on bailouts and government programs, yet some really good technology gets sent over to the Chinese. So now they can make more cheap junk to sell us, without having to do the R&D behind it. Yep, that makes LOTS of sense......
