If I'm not mistaken, isn't the 1157A a dual-filament bulb that's used for the brake/taillights on our cars? The rear turn signals use single-filament bulbs, but the 7507A isn't compatible with the 1156 bulbs used for the brake lights and rear fog light. You have to pay close attention to the contacts on the bottom of the bulb (easiest way to tell if they're single- or dual-filament) as well as the little pins that lock the bulb into its housing. On some they're offset radially or axially from each other, which won't let the bulb fit unless you trim them, and then it won't lock securely.

On my 9-3 I cleared the front turn signal lenses and installed Sylvania Silver Star bulbs all around, but I definitely had to special-order the 7507A bulbs for the rear. The next time I needed to replace the fronts, the local stores didn't carry those bulbs in 1157A either, so those also got ordered.

I thought I read here that the SID compares the current draw of the left and right bulbs, so you're probably less likely to have a problem if you use the same bulbs on both sides. You should do a search though because I've heard of lenses getting melted when people used a higher-wattage bulb than stock!
