If you just cleared the OBDII codes, just install the new O2 sensor and drive. I just as of last Thursday did the exact same thing to the front sensor on my 96/900s. Cleared codes, added new front O2 sensor. Haven't seen the "Check Engine" light since! Yes! The ECU sees the new O2 sensor. Your ECU is constantly checking the whole system, continuously.
