Hey guys - got "the talk" from my mechanic yesterday. Pulley bearings going (and subsequently went) on AC compressor. I'm trying to talk him into the short belt mod. He seemed fine with it at first and is now saying he can't do it. I'm going to print him the diagram and give him the part number for the shorter belt and see if I can convince him (with your help) to do it. I read somewhere on here that doing the short belt mod the belt will still come into contact with the AC pulley. Is this true? If so, will it hurt anything?
My mechanic is currently looking for a defunct AC compressor with a good pulley / idler arm to slap on it so he can route the belt the correct way but I'm not looking forward to paying any more than I really need to at this point. I just need the little gal to get me through til March. Not looking to put more than 1000 miles on her between now and then.
Thanks
