I'm not really sure how I've gained fuel economy, but I'm getting 25 city and 32 highway. Considering the fact my turbo moves significantly more air than stock, my injectors can flow almost 68% more fuel, and the high ethanol content requires about 30% more fuel than the gasoline I was running previously, I was prepared for a significant drop in fuel economy. However, I can now accelerate quite swiftly with very little throttle and only a few psi of boost, the ethanol allows my ignition to be advanced an extra 5 degrees, and my engine is breathing better overall thereby increasing its thermal efficiency; so I suppose this just adds up to better overall efficiency. On the other hand, if I get on it too much I can easily burn through a few gallons of fuel in 10-15 miles.
Both my stock turbochargers suffered bearing failures. The first one seized, which I replaced with a salvage turbo. The salvage turbo had a bit of shaft play when I installed it, but not enough to justify sending it back and waiting two weeks with the car on jacks, for a replacement. After I installed the stage 3 tune and started pushing the turbo to its limits, the already weak bearings simply gave out. In reality, the Garrett T25 turbo that was originally fitted to my car isn't well suited for high performance applications; this is why I ultimately spent the money for the upgrade.
