The thicker new oil might be enough to mask the problem for awhile if it is in fact a low oil pressure problem. If the light start to flicker after engine is driven really hot again, it is probably a pressure problem.
It is also a chance that you have a sludge issue and the debris gets sucked up into the pickup screen and then dropped to the bottom of oil pan again when engine is shut off.
But the easiest is to remove the oil reducer valve and check for scoring.
