The water pump doesn't need much wrap to be able to rotate, ever seen a Mercedes engine? On some models, the belt contacts about 10% of the water pump pulley and with Mercedes over engineering everything you would think they don't do too many short cuts.
I have not done both a short belt and A/C removal on the NG900 so I don't have the exact length but it seems like you figured it out and that nwas have a solution too.
I have only done A/C removal on the OG9-3 model and that one takes a 6PK-1805 belt since those came from factory as a short belt style already.
The NG900 and OG9-3 does not quite use the same belt length to begin with since the OG9-3 is 6PK-2345 and the NG900 with short belt is about 6PK-2460.
