In reading 30+ other posts on Hot start CPS, NSS, Starter & Ignition problems, I've eliminated the CPS being the issue since it won't even crank, and it does not seem that my NSS is the problem either... because even when moving the AT selector up & down in and out of P, N, R,321 and wiggling while in P or N it still won't start, have also pressed in the tiny neutral reset... This is on a 2003 9-3SE Conv. Sport AT, 58K in San Diego.
Aprox 10% of the time I try to start when Hot I get no Crank, no clicking, no nothing -but all electrical & lights work. The battery is fully charged only 6 months old.
This only happens when Hot and typically will start after 15-20 minutes or several tries wiggling the key while turning it.
I imagine it could be a loose connection in the ignition or on the starter, or perhaps a Relay??? Though I've wiggled all relays & checked fuses -when it wouldn't start, and that didn't work. Only time/cooling seems to work.
Do any of you great experts have any tips? Or guidance on how to find - access the starter wires to clean?? A link to a diagram would be great. Or can the starter solenoid be checked or replaced without replacing whole starter?
Thanks in advance - happy Saabing!
-Erik
