I drive a 1998 Saab 900S, 2.3 liter, non-turbo, 4-cylinder.

Lately she's been acting funny. Sometimes when you turn the key to the "accessory" position (just before starting), all of the dash lights would come on (as they SHOULD) and other times they'd appear very dim without any of the needles of any of the gauges going up (especially when I have close to a full tank of gas). You'd think the battery was drained, but the rest of the electrical system (radio, cabin lights, headlights, wipers, etc.) works perfectly fine without any of the other interior lights going dim.

Sometimes she'd eventually light up completely (after a few seconds of being dim) like she should; other times the lights on the dash would remain dim. Once in a while the "Check Engine" light would flicker along with a clicking sound (that sounds like it's coming from the fuse box). The "Check Engine" light would remain on (along with my "Check Gear Box" light) as I'm driving; after I stopped and turned it off, the next time it wouldn't be on.

In ALL instances, the car had no problems starting. There were a few times, however, when the lights on the dash would suddenly turn off AS I'M DRIVING (with all the needles on the gauges dropping down as though I had just turned her off). The car would then hesitate with the ABS or SRS lights flickering then eventually stall. Luckily, I was able to get her started back up each time.

Keep in mind that I just changed the alternator, ICE unit along with both the postive and negative cables to the battery (which did have some corrosion), and the battery itself is exactly 2 years old.

What really drives me nuts is that it's not a consistent problem and just never know when or where my car could possibly stall agaion. Sometimes she'd work and run perfectly FINE; other times she do almost everything I just described.

What on earth could possibly be causing these erratic electrical problems?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated....thanks!
