Alternator light but apparently charging

My alternator light came on today while on the highway, & has stayed on. I measured the voltage at the battery terminals while the light was on & engine idling: 14.1 V. To me, this nominally means that the alternator is providing a voltage that should charge the battery. Does anyone have insight as to why the light is still on? A loose wire somewhere?? The battery is only ~6 months old.
Thanks
