(not) locking & door amp interaction? NG900

'97 NG900 'Vert - A question on interaction and wiring of the door amps and door locks.
Yesterday my door locks stopped operating with the remote. Alarm still set, but the locks didn't move. I could hear the gas tank cap lock moving into position, but nothing from the doors. Manually locking one door by the button did not cause the other to lock as it normally should - car on or off and the key only locked one door (not sure if it is supposed to do both as I've never used it in the door before).
It stayed like that for a while, through a few errands and 50 or so miles of driving. As I pulled in to the drive, I heard a bit of thunk thunk from the right door speaker (amp?). I've heard this before occassionally and I've been meaning to get in there and check it someday.I shut the car off and the locks were working again. While checking the fuses, I noticed that the amplifiers are on the same fuse.
Anyone have any experience with the wiring in the doors? Are there interactions between the wiring in the passenger door that might cause this? Maybe a common physical location? Anything else that might cause the door locks to stop working?
