Assuming "heavy pedal pressure" means that it's difficult to press down on the pedal with enough force (as opposed to the pedal going to the floor with ease with little braking action), it sound like a fault with the brake booster system. Saab calls it the "servo unit."
It uses vacuum from the car to increase the force of you pushing on the pedal. If there is a leak, whether in the vacuum system or the booster itself, you lose some to all of the assistance - which is major. That's why in the whole Toyota debacle they warned that drivers should put the car in neutral then brake rather than shutting the engine off then trying to stop. When you shut the engine off, you lose the boost assistance.
If it's easy to push the pedal to the floor (with little or no braking action, then it's likely air in the system. What method did you use to bleed the system? If you did the traditional two man pumping method, you MIGHT have damaged the master cylinder. As the car gets older, the push rod and cylinder only see a portion of it's actual potential travel. Over time, this can cause some "gunk to develop where the plunger never swipes over and/or wear areas/ridge along the cylinder. When the breaks are bled by pumping, the plunger goes way beyond these wear points and any developed gunk or ridge (especially gunk) could scrape the plunger just enough where you now have leak by of the plunger.
