99 9-3 Vert Shear Pin Question Posted by IanC [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
After having the top replaced my shear pin has broken, I confirmed today by following the TSB on the issue and getting to the pin. Removal of the remaining part of the pin was very easy and the shear pin kit from Saab is on order from a dealer.
My question is that the TSB calls for removing quite a bit of the assembly and then replacing shear and lock pins. While I've pulled the trim and passenger rear brake light, none of that work was necessary to get to the broken pin. I've confirmed that the deck lid opening works fine by using an allen wrench to cycle the deck lid once. At this point, my natural inclination is to replace the shear pin only and leave well enough alone on the rest of the assembly. However, are there any looming problems that should be corrected while I have access to the deck lid opening assembly?
Thanks in advance,
Ian
