I had the same problem. Couldnt get the clip back on. It turns out I was inserting it the wrong way. Unfortunately I am not driving my Saab right now or I would take a picture for you. If I remember correctly the clip does not insert into the slot (as you would think it would). Instead I think that one prong goes into the slot and one stays on the outside. However it has been a year since I did this. Maybe somebody will be kind enough to open their hood and snap a picture.
Anyway, what I can tell you is that I struggled for an hour to get mine together and left the vehicle in frustration. After sleeping on it, I went back and realized I was trying to put the clip in the wrong way. Whichever way seemed to be the intuive way to insert it...ended up not being the correct way. Once I changed how I was doing it, it slid right in without a problem.
