I have the interior gutted on my 1999 9-3. I replaced the heater box and washed the carpet. Why? It was a heavily smoked in car and a couple cans of soda had spilled on the floor and around the console. The ignition lock cylinder didn't always pop up when the key came out and the shifter mechanism was sloppy. I cleaned the carpet and removed the shifter console-thanks Platanoff. Replaced the shift mechanism. Soaked the ignition lock cylinder in hot water then lubed it with Zep 45. Works beautifully now. By the way the the 2 T20 screws holding the ignition switch were barely tight. The question:
I removed the reverse lockout by leaving out 3 parts. The spring, a silver 'T' (held in with a T30 screw) and the larger metal thing that has the black coating on part of it. Are those the correct parts to delete?
