Not diesel. Not sure my tech pointed out the hose on my car when I mentioned the problem I was having with my wife's car. Both 99 9-3s 2.0 turbo. I was pretty sure he said it was an EGR hose thus accounted for the gas smell. As I recalled it was the smaller of the two hoses on the passenger side (LHD) to the car under the plastic cover.
