I have a 2001 base automatic, and have noticed some differences in my wiring harness when comparing to other model years (including Viggens). Two immediately come to mind:
- MAP sensor on intake manifold is a different type
- CAAP (charge air) sensor on delivery pipe is a different type/location
There is actually an extra pressure sensor on my car, on a bracket toward the driver's side of the cylinder head, that isn't connected to anything. It's even listed in EPC for my year, as I recall, but it bears the same part number as the MAP and CAAP sensors from the 2000 model year. This baffled me until I finally concluded that my so-called "intake air temperature sensor" on the delivery pipe is what's giving the car its CAAP reading.
My guess is that these old sensors were already being attached to the cylinder head assemblies, so they didn't bother to eliminate them after they made the change.
One more thing...keep in mind that in 2001, the TCS option became standard on all 9-3s. I don't know what that might mean for the harness, but if your Viggen doesn't have TCS, there could be some more differences. With luck, any extra wiring for TCS could just be left unconnected and sealed off.
