Hello,

After researching my A/C issue, which is a bad clutch/pulley bearing, I decided to finally do something since the heat is already getting to me in early June. I've been bypassing the A/C compressor/clutch with the shorter belt for a while since I didn't want to invest the $800+ to have the compressor replaced or the $400+ if I got a compressor off eeuroparts.com if I did the work myself.

I was planning to try the bearing replacement in the car as noted on several threads here. You can get a bearing for around $20 on ebay, but with some substantial work to replace.

I did see someone advertising a NEW A/C compressor (aftermarket manufacturer named Arctic Air)complete with clutch/pulley for $199 with free shipping, so now I'm considering removing and replacing the whole thing since I'm not 100% sure the compressor is still good and it's just the bearing.

Anyone have feedback on this compressor? It does come with a 2 year warranty to boot, and his feedback is in the thousands with 100% positive. Ebay item number 160423718119.

Also, obviously I'll have to recharge the freon ... anyone have much luck buying the cans of R134 in autoparts stores or Walmart, or is it better to take it to an A/C shop and have it done?

Thanks for any feedback. By the way, the car is a 1999 Saab 93, 2 door hatchback, 2.0L engine.
