BBA couldn't rebuild my ABS... but my indy found a good used one (half the mileage of my car) for the same price.... couple months later no issues.
Pulling the ABS module, you lose the speedo (and cruise, and odometer, and and SID readings), but not the breaks (just the ABS feature... but then I didn't regularly drive a car with ABS until I was about 28). I was able to drive my car by borrowing a GPS unit from a buddy (he had one that and a feature that showed speed in about a 1 inch size) and using the telescoping feature of the steering wheel was able to wedge it in right on top.
