Struts/shocks replaced, mysterious knock. Proper torque

Know where to get the proper torque "tightness" for suspension joints? I'm having knocking after my mechanic replaced my shocks/struts. I have knocking on the front right side when going around bumpy corners, or going over speed bumps.
I also have a knocking that occurs when I brake. My mechanic tightened I believe the control rod joint (don't quote me here), and it quite temporatirily. The noise always comes back, but after getting my car aligned, I was told the contact point was WAY over torqued.
I know there are several people on here that have had the mysterious knocking after replacing shocks/struts as well. I've checked the posts, but really not sure where to start.
Again, it'd be nice to know the proper torque #s so nothing is horribly overtightened.
