Hello all,
I have posted before on this issue and intensively searched on this forum for solution to my problem. So far, no success, but I do not loose hope and beg for advice.
My car is a 1995 900S Auto transmission, two door hatchback; manual climate controls (Not ACC equiped)
The problem is that the A/C blows very cold air for a few minutes when I first turn it on, then it blows normal air. I can turn off the A/C switch for a few minutes, then switch it on and cold air blows for a few minutes again. Other times it can blow barely cool air. Apparently tuning the A/C off and on makes it work a little.
The outside temp reading on the SID also fluctuates a few degrees towards the hotter side; in fact when I first turn on the car the SID shows hotter than real temps and gradually adjusts to close to real temp (but still fluctuates). Many posts here indicate this sensor affect the A/C operation but I wonder if it applies in manual A/Cs too.
I notice the compressor clutch is engaging despite not blowing cold air though. I checked this on my driveway.
This are the things I've done to the car so far:
Checked freon pressure and the low side reads 38-40 psi.
Replaced fan high speed relay.
Replaced the cooling fan with a good used one. I jumped the relay connectors to test the high and low speeds and they both work.
The silicone on the backside of the outside temp connector looked brittle. I put some silicone gasket maker to seal it from water and heat zipping through. That improved the SID temp readings a little.
Replaced the outside temp sensor with a used one from a salvage yard. It didn't change anything.
Replaced the coolant temp sender (the one with the cable). I also read a post that says this sensor also affects the A/C operation.
Disconnected the battery a few hours hoping it would reset something.
Anything else that might need a check?
