Hello, Have a 98' 900 TC SE 64,000 Miles. Automatic. Purchased car last week, had a pre-purchase inspection done, and the mechanic said the car checked out. he is considered a good Saab indy in the area. Tonight while driving noticed the headlamps were dimmer than normal. Car ran fine, chalked it up to lower quality bulbs. While backing into my driveway the lights went dim including all the interior lights (dash) Car idled unsteadily. The ABS warning lamp came on, then the CEL and check gearbox lamp illuminated. Turned off the car, then wouldn't start. I jumped the car too put the roof up. Only took a few minutes of charging and it started the first time. The lights were all bright, all the waring lamps were off, and the car's idle was steady. After about five minutes I turned the auto lights too the "ON" position. The lights all went dim and the idle got worse, until the car almost turned off. The Lights were brighter if I gave alittle gas. I turned the car off and it would not restart. I will go and get a new battery tomorrow even thought this battery looks brand new, with no corrosion. Through out the drive before and after the jump start, the battery lamp on the dash did not illuminate. The battery light does work because it lights when the car is in accesory. The SID beeped but did not display any message. The screen does work otherwise. Any suggestions? Its been a while since my last post here as I sold my last saab a 900C last year. Thanks in advance-Chuck
