Problem: When car is hot, the engine will crank but not turn over. If it cools down (30 minutes - 2 hours) everything is fine and it starts right up.
Cause: Bad CPS- Crank position sensor. Researching on this forum pointed me towards this problem.
Locating the problem: the CPS is in the front of the engine, lower right hand side, and has a small heat shield around it. It has a Torx- 27 bolt that keeps it in place.
Replacement issues: The manual tells you to remove the aluminum turbo pipe and exhause manifold heat shield only to get to the torx bolt. Problem is that the torx bolt is at such an angle, and the cat is right in front of it, that I could not get a torx driver in straight (tried regular torx driver, Small torx driver, ratchet fitting, ratchet fitting with universal adapter, etc.) and started to strip the torx bolt. Once it started stripping, I thought it might be a torx 30 and stripped it some more- luckily it was just at the top edges. Before I ruined the bolt and had to get a cutoff tool, I decided to try and get more room to work.
To solve the problem and not strip the torx bolt any more, I undid the cat from the exhaust manifold (3 bolts) and from underneath the car (2 nuts and a hangar) and moved the cat down 4-5 inches allowing straight access to the torx bolt with room behind it. Torx driver went right in and 3 minutes later the CPS was out. Put the new one in with a regular hex bolt instead of the torx bold, put the car back together, and not more problems- starts every time.
Hope this helps someone.
