Recently installed a generic unit on a clients '96 900 SE vert. He bought the unit at a local auto parts store, said he was tired of his wife bending the factory antenna inserts at the carwash. The antenna was a very flexible rubber unit about 15" in height. Simply had to remove the factory assembly and install the generic replacement in the same hole. All fit pretty well, water sealed to a direct garden hose spray. The radio signal cable just plugged into the new unit.
Not sure how it will fair long term, or it damage will be done at its next trip through the carwash (taking a vert though a auto carwash is a completely different concern/no no for another day)
