Hi Bill,
I was suprised when i read your post and all your cable failures. Heres what i did. I have a 1997 900set convert that i bought used. Soon after i bought it, i took the clutch cable out and replaced it with a Napa manually adjustable cable. Quit honestly it has been working perfect for and probably have 50-60,000 miles on it now. It has not stretched for me, and still looks new on the one end that i can see(engine bay)..Just go on Napas website, and you can search for t heir cable. For me it has worked out well, and you may hear less success from others. The clutch pedal is heavy, and of course the only resolution to that is the hydraulic conversion kit. I thought about it when i installed my Viggen clutch kit, but passed..Do i regret it...50/50...Good luck
PS, I like this cable because you can adjust the free play to your liking. I do not know what the OEM Saab cable feels like
