However, look at the shape of the car.... Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Mon, 1 Nov 2010 20:29:44 In Reply to: None...., Mike Lynch [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 1 Nov 2010 15:28:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The windshield header and A pillars are super strong, and will support the weight of the car to protect the front passengers. There are also side airbags that probably would help a little too. The rear seats are very low and the heads of the rear passengers sit just a bit higher than then the trunk level...if the A pillar holds as it is designed, the rear passengers probably would be OK in a moderate rollover. If you're flipping over multiple times, all bets are off for front and rear. Even with the pop-up bars on the new one.
Not so sure the top frame if up would actually do anything though...I can practically bend mine with my hands...
Either way, convertibles are not safe but the OG 9-3 (I have one) is still probably better than many new ones. Saab definitely engineered safety into the car.
