Hi Guys,
Car is a '99 9-3, auto, 136k miles.
Recently had the radiator replaced as it was leaking auto tranny fluid into the coolant and vice versa. Tranny fluid was replaced 3 times by my mechanic.
Today, a week later, I notice a rattly/whining sound as I accelerate. Then it starts to slip from a stop...and then finally, it wouldn't move at all. D and Reverse both acted like neutral. The car was stuck down at the end of my street, so I go get some help to push it up. When we get back to the car and I start it, I was able to get it going again in D...but I eventually got some slip again as I got it to the house and up the driveway. Once I parked it, D wouldn't even keep it from rolling backwards down my slightly inclined driveway.
Does it sound like the tranny is shot from the coolant getting in there? Last week when I had my work done, my mechanic said there was some coolant in there, but that it should be OK now that he changed the ATF and put the new radiator. Perhaps something is just clogged, between there having been coolant in there (and the fact that my old ATF was black?)? I just checked my fluid and it's nice and new and pink (since it's 1 week old) and there doesn't seem to be any metal in it.
Thanks for any advice!!
