Yes, it could be a broken timing chain but hard to say for sure over the internet.
No compression sounding engine while cranking over from valves not opening properly is usually a 5-10 sec diagnose when you actually have the car present and can listen to it yourself.
After that it is just a matter of finding out why the engine doesn't have compression.
So if you suspect something like that. Removing spark plugs and checking compression would the first plan of action and then removing the valve cover if you don't have any compression.
