Question about door removal. Easier to remove fender? Posted by bender [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I need to clear some rust from the hinges that formed way back when the front door was bent while the car rolled back due to the hand brake malfunctioning. 2000 9-3 SE. The hinges flexed, cracked the paint and five years later a rusting a little.
I had plans to remove the door to get to the hinge, and at least stop some of the rust from getting worse, at least for a few years. From the following pictures, in the link, it almost looks like it'd be easier to do just what I need by removing the quarter panel. Of course, I wouldn't have access to the other side of the hinge without opening the door, but at least this way exposes most of what I need....so I *may* be able to get away with this.
How hard is it to do? See third picture in the link below.
Many thanks! Bender.
