Assuming that you mean an OG9-3 and not a newer 9-3SS, the '99 9-3 with the T5 ignition is much less likely to have a sludge problem than the '00-'02 T7 cars. There are certainly benefits, like more air bags and such, but the sludge problem overshadows all the other benefits, as far as I'm concerned. Also, keep away from the V-6s unless you like paying to have the timing belt and associated tensioner pulleys changed. If it fails, it's time for a new engine... Ron
