Hi Bill

I've done this and was apprehensive too.

There's a link below to youtube. It's not for a saab, but I'm sure it's similar.

The first thing to do is to loosen the nut holding the front hub assembly onto the CV joint. Do this with the front wheels still on, and the weight of the car fully on the wheels (not like the youtube video). Chock the wheels to stop the car moving while you loosen the nut (be sure to have a new one on hand to replace at the end).

You will have to remove the entire steering knuckle (so it might be worth replacing the strut mount too while you are at it).

The front hub assembly can be pushed out easily, as the bearing you are replacing is destroyed in the shearing action that it was not designed to withstand. If the inner bearing race is still attached to the front hub after you have separated it, with a die grinder or similar, notch a "shallow" groove in the inner bearing race, enough to put a cold chisel in there and give the cold chisel a smack with the hammer. It should split easy. Then remove the snap ring holding the bearing in place (might be tough as it will be rusted in there pretty good... PBlaster works fine).

Once the snap ring is out, flip the steering knuckle assembly over and using your bearing kit, push out the outer bearing race.

Install the new bearing with a little grease on the outer bearing race and knuckle mating surfaces. Make sure you press in the new bearing a) straight in (not crooked) and b) ONLY use the outer bearing race surface to push the new bearing in (DON'T use the inner bearing race to do this).

Once the new bearing is in, insert the snap ring. Then, using the inner bearing race ONLY, push down on the inner bearing race to push it onto the front hub assembly.

Given the pressures involved, be very careful. The outer bearing race is probably rusted in place to some extent, and will typically let go with a BANG!

Take your time and you should be fine.
HTH.
