AaronG. Why does it feel good to you? If someone is "stupid" enough to spend 8 years of expensive education and choosing a profession that carries expensive malpractice insurance and offices and then he is "entitled" charge those amounts.
Lets say that he puts in the same yearly hours as me, about 2707 year, and manage to bill out the same 49% of time spent at work as I do plus whatever evening hours doing research. He would bag about $800,000.00 to 1.8 mil in labor alone for consultation (before taxes) depending on how many cash deals at $600.00 an hour compared to $1350.00 charged to insurance companies he doles out. That is not counting how many laser procedures he performs at $2500.00 an hour.
Lets say he decide to not carry malpractice insurance, should I demand that he charge me less then?
S-Works. Yes, I guess but. The human body haven't changed much in the last 100,000 years so they should have it pretty much down to a science now how we tick and gets fixed compared to cars that changes every other year in dramatic ways having us to constantly stand in front of new problems that needs to be diagnosed and repaired and many times being intermittent that no customer wants to pay for.
Doctors though have the uncanny habit of charging for every hour of diagnostics without flinching an eye.
EDG. Yeah I did a sleep study some 10 years ago but it was not bad enough to be classified as sleep apnea and therefore called cosmetic snoring not covered by insurance and even if it is sleep apnea it only covers the C-pap machine and if you after 6 month cannot deal with that, it only covers a portion of surgery costs.
For personal and aesthetic reasons I just cannot accepting being "hooked up" to a machine for the rest of my life and would rather try some other options but I have not tried any of the magic cures "as seen on TV" being spray or mouth guard so I can't say anything about those. I did try the nose strips but that didn't work.
I will give this laser a shot and hopefully it makes it better.
So back to Finch question. Unless doing something illegal, who are we to say what someone can charge or not. Market forces will regulate automatically and if one shop is ok with making a certain amount of money, another feels they are "entitled" to more.
It would be nice though to see the whole invoice to separate costs for this and that. Since they are in line with most specialty shops for oil change, I would think they are not ripping you off in other ways. Can't bring in quicki lube prices here since they are on border line to being illegal in their practices of overselling other stuff to cover for the cheap oil changes.
