Ok so about a weak ago one of the pulleys to the serpintine belt had seized up then broked up. This of course snapped the belt and I was just about to get on the highway when this happend. Fortunatly I was able to find a parking lot to turn the car off in. I had the car on for probably less than 5 minutes when the belt broke, but I lost power stering and the battery symbol came up.
I took it to a shop got it fixed, and they tested the battery to make sure it was good. Everything seems fine, except now when I'm driving it idles kind of weird. Like I will be going 60 mph in 4th and the engine revs around 3k which is normal. BUT when I pop into neutral to coast the engine whines down to about 1.7k and stays there... My saab is idle at 1k so I'm not sure why it is sticking at 1.7K. When I come to a complete stop it will slowly go down to 1K.
Also, when I tap on the gas while in neutral that will get the engine to come down to 1K. So what's going on here? Did this messed up other stuff to the engine? Is my Saab screwed? She's getting old has 195K on her, and I'm getting worried..
Help!!
