Thanks John - like I said I really don't know too much about what to look for except that if there is a bunch of goop that's bad ;p - I was mainly worried about the burnt look. I have no service history on the car so just covering all the bases.
As far as the noise... It sounds like when a pulley goes out (that kinda ratatatata ratatatata noise) - It's louder on the passenger side than the driver side of the engine, so I was thinking pulley but I replaced the idler and all the others look fine (can't see any wobble) - I'll pull the belt off and start it up to find out if that makes a difference at all, and record the noise and post it. Hopefully my camera will pick up noise well enough.
Also:
There is a good amount of water always dripping from catalytic converter after I park and let it sit - I do not run A/C as it has not been hot enough here yet. It's not antifreeze, has no taste / colour.. is this normal?
