Steven, will do. I actually took my car to a Saab indy for this issue recently, but the temperature dropped and they couldn't duplicate the problem. I took a bit of a gamble because I realized the starter and ignition switch could also be possible causes, but a couple of times it has started shortly after opening the hood to let in some fresh air. I figured the location of the NSS made it pretty susceptible to hot air trapped under the hood.

I bought the new part from a non-specialist online supplier and used a coupon code to bring the price down a bit more. In the end I paid about $100 below the dealer price, with no tax and free shipping. It hurt but I'm hoping it'll be worth it.

I think the job took just under 4 hours, but that included some time struggling with the dipstick tube and also taking a break in the middle.

John, I tried doing the P-to-1 (and N-to-D) technique when my car first started having this problem last summer. It seemed to work on a couple of occasions, then didn't do it all winter, and now recently no amount of fiddling could get it to start - I just had to wait it out.

Also, the old switch on my car didn't look rebuildable. I found some old posts on here that said their original switch had screws holding it together while the replacement had rivets, but my original was definitely riveted.
