My 2000 9-3 has been running great, but yesterday I went to start it and while it turns over and sounds very close to starting, it won't go. The battery is new, I just filled the tank the day before. I tried using starter fluid, but that didn't help. Today I had it towed to a highly recommended saab shop I have never used (just moved) and here's what they said: he thought it was one of the two main busses that might be bad, but the car would not communicate with his diagnostic computer--he now sees this as the primary problem and they need more time to diagnose. Now I am really worried! He also said he noticed that the fan comes on briefly every time after trying to start it, which he said should not happen. He did say he didn't believe it was the fuel pump. I'm waiting to hear. I've been looking around online and see a lot of people mentioning the crankshaft position sensors. Any advice here? Are there things he could be checking and just ignore the "communication" issue right now? The car didn't have any noticeable symptoms prior to this. It has been raining heavily if that makes any difference. Advice appreciated!!!
