I just finished this last night on my Viggen. 100k miles on the old stock stuff. Did poly bushings on the control arms, new (oem) stanchion bushings, new struts (oem replacement from local parts store). Also installed new Hankook Ventus V12 tires.
As for vibration and wandering, I've been driving on stiff, worn-out rubber bushings for the past few years, plus it is a Viggen with famous torque steer and tramlining. I guess I would have to say there is less vibration and the car feels better than it ever has since I've owned it (bought it with 35k miles 7 years ago).
Rough prices:
$400 tires
$65ea strut cartridge
$100 poly bushings
$100 axle (had a bad joint)
$25ea ball joint boots
$40 replace single-use lock nuts
$60ea stanchion bushing
$55ea push out old bushings and push in stanchion bushings at local shop
Scheduled for an alignment (and to double-check my work!)
The wheel bearings, strut tower bearings, tie rod ends and ball joints all appeared to be in good condition, so I didn't bother with them.
One concern I have is that the polyurethane bushings came with copper anti-seize, which I did use. But every place I look on the internet says to use a special silicone-based grease that is very sticky. Hotchkis says the same thing. So we'll see. Either way, it appears you are stuck with lubing the inner control arm bushing every couple years..
